The 2008 beach week-end is already over and I was really sad to see everyone leave this morning after a long week-end of pure fun! Jeni and Hudson followed by Esther, Rick and Nate arrived Thursday afternoon. So sorry you had to fight traffic for so long! We had a great quiet evening on the patio, drinking wine and beer and munching on appetizers. When Rick started snoozing a bit, it was time to go to bed. Friday morning, Kathy and then Carolyn and Jimmy arrived in time for breakfast. We packed coolers with lunch and drinks (lots of drinks?) and headed to Sandbridge where we met Frank. Nathan and I went for a paddle and were lucky to see a bunch of dolphins really close! Some passed underneath the boats, they just seemed to come greet us. Later in the afternoon, Chantal and Rob showed up and Laura and Donna too. Thanks for the margaritas ladies... Frank had to do a rollover on Jimmy and Carolyn and splash sunscreen all over Kathy! After a day of sun, we headed back home and started getting dinner ready. Thank you Nate, oh master of the grill! Later, we drove to Frank's boat at the Little Creek Marina to watch the fireworks but unfortunately a strong storm with 60 mph winds and torrential rain caught us. We didn't see any fireworks but got stranded under the gazebo for a while! Here again a prime example of the outdoors adventure we get into, voluntarily or not... LOL Unfortunately, the weather didn't want to cooperate and Saturday after an unsuccessful attempt to get into the Aquarium, we ended up going to lunch at Rockefeller. Back home for a little nap time and then hanging out on the patio until wise Kathy suggested to go take a walk on the beach. So we drove to Chicks Beach, passed in front of the former home of Wayne and Susan and enjoyed a stroll before a new storm started moving in. Back home for another cookout and this time, we had to stay inside. Lots of fun stories and jokes, a couple of them caught on video of course (too big for the blog but I'll see if I can load them on U-tube... Sunday morning, we finished up with a wonderful breakfast: THANKS KATHY and CAROLYN!!!
I had such a great time with you all, it's so good to have you around. All the positive energy and vibes are sinking in the bones of the house. Thanks a million for the gorgeous huge plant (Jimmy and Carolyn), for the bird feeder and se
eds (Esther and Rick), the beautiful hand made river rocks bracelet (Nate), the sunflowers (Kathy) and just all for coming down on such a busy week-end to hang out at the beach and the very sweet card. The door is always open, no need for an invitation, just come back down any time you want.

Vickie,
Thank you SOOO much for such a great weekend! I was so sad to leave this morning!:( especially when we hit the tunnel - We got back to Lex-Vegas around 6:00 this evening and we did not stop for lunch! Well worth it though! You are quite the host! We and I will miss you when you leave! Hurry home! ;)
Thanks again!--Nate A
Vickie,
I haven't been to YOUR beach because it competes with OUR beach but it looks like a lot of fun was had! Your home looks great! Hopefully when Kathy and Carolyn come up with a date for Hatteras, you can join us! We are just enjoying our surfer's colony campground. We like to call ourselves, Trailer trash! Our trailers cost between 5-10000 dollars, but the trucks and vehicles and surfboards and boats for fishing cost more than I make in a year!!!!

Sounds like you all had a wonderful time. Thanks so much to Carolyn for hooking us up with Love after all these years, we've spoken of her often and it was wonderful to hear her voice. Not as wonderful to hear of the Weathersby's fire, but glad no one was hurt. Congrats, Vickie and the FOJ gang on another successful holiday weekend. Looks like the Harts were doing it up in the Outer Banks, too. Nate, want a pic and possibly a recording of you playing the drums, thought of you when we went to the guitar store for new strings today.
See you in August!
Love, Susan
