Official Yaking Season Opened...

So I have officially started my kayaking season... I took my boat out this afternoon for a nice paddle and it was really quiet, no one out there except for one kayaker who was fishing. I got to see tons of egrets, one other cool bird (don't know what it is so please enlight me...) and I disturbed an ospray nest. I thought the osprays were going to gang up on me and attack since I was so close to the nest... Beautiful day to be outside.
Now, it's time to grill out. My sis and brother-in-law will be here shortly for some pork chops and veggi kebabs :) Have a fantabulous week-end,

Memorial Day Float Fest

Annual Memorial Day float trip is on again this year at Hudson and Jeni's hacienda in Schuyler-fornia (Nelson Co.). Come paddle your way into summer down the James & Hardware Rivers!

Details:
  • Sat., May 24th - Come cook out with us on Walton's Mtn. around 4pm, stay the night (2 queen beds and couch in the house, ample camping in the yard). Food will be provided, but feel free to bring a side/dessert and BYOB. Address will go out in an email.

  • Sun. May 25th - breakfast at the house, head over to Howardsville for new put-in. We've added a short leg onto last year's trip that has some pretty views and some wee rapids to add to the adventure. We'll float and flop around in the river, have some mid-way margaritas (right Carolyn? :), and onward to the famed Point de Turd for island camping, cook-out, etc. People can camp overnight here, or float on down to take out (3o min.).

  • Mon. May 26th - There's nothing like a tequila sunrise with Jay and MB, that's all I gotta say. Take our time getting to the take out. Grab a bite in Scottsville for lunch at Valley St.

Hope to see y'all there!

Morel Fest 2008

I went hiking In Lex-Vegas this weekend with Killian and stumbled upon some May apples and cancer root right below some poplar trees when I realized... That means wild Morel mushrooms!!! I found a handful of Morel mushrooms before calling in mom and dad on the cell with baskets and water for a two hour shroom hunt. We found about 40 Morel mushrooms. We are getting ready to sit down to a wild Morel, wine, cream sauce on wild Alaskan salmon with pasta and salad! These little moments make life so grand!! Tried to call Mary Beth for recipes but had to Google! Hope Everyone is well!
