IT'S CHERRY PICKIN' TIME AT CHERRY KNOLL!

Yes, it's cherry pickin' time again at Cherry Knoll in Powhatan! Come one, come all and pick to your heart's content! But you'd better hurry! My flock of feathered friends are already singing for joy at the prospects of a delicious fruity meal this weekend. BYOB - Bring Your Own Basket and fill it to the brim. These tart cherries make delicious pies and cobblers. An annual Memorial Weekend treat at Cherry Knoll in Powhatan!

They are the BEST cherries for pies.

More than once, coming back from Mobjack Bay on Memorial Day, instead of unloading the Trooper the first thing we would do would be pick the cherries before the birds ate them all. Over the years the birds proably got way more cherries than we ever did.

Oh wowwwwwww! That's so cool! I think I'll have to stop by maybe on my way back from Memorial to pick some up? Carolyn, I may have to follow you instead instead of carpooling! Those cherries are too tempting! Better than the bugs and worms Luz was eating las week-end!!

Aw, I bet it won't take much, Vickie, to get the Stewarts to come cherry picking! But, hey, Monday might be too late! As Bill said, the birds have been having CherryFests on Memorial Weekend for years, and this year they are already filling their baskets and brought along their buddies, the squirrels. I'll bring a bunch to MemorialFest to add to the buffet.

John Exley used to come by every year on his way back from Fluvanna to pick cherries, and he also used to dig up a couple of baby cherry trees every time, as a bunch of them always pop up throughout the orchard in the spring time. He now has a cherry orchard of his own, and it's doing well! Every one is also welcome to come by and start your own orchard any time!

I think we may have to hit Powhatan first! We need to set a time, Vickie.

Kathy: how far to H&G's from your house?

Kathy: You need to do "Bird Patrol" until we get there. Good Luck with THAT!
