The Gal's Beach Weekend 08/08 dwindled down to just 3 of us, Mary, Linda and myself, and our Honorary Girlfriend, Frank, and we had an absolute BLAST!! We went to downtown Hampton Friday night with Michael and Kate and danced the night away, drinking a few too many Cosmopolitans. Early Saturday and Sunday mornings were spent going on a long power walk around the beautiful residential area and across the bridge and back, ending up with coffee and smoothies at the Coffee Connection and checking out the Farmers Market. Saturday afternoon was spent relaxing on the beach at Chick's Beach, one of my favorite places in the world. Then Frank took us for a fantastic ride on his sailboat out in the Chesapeake Bay, along with Captain Dave. The weather was gorgeous; a perfect day for sailing. A herd of dolphins swam around the boat for a little while, much to our delight. Then we headed back to freshen up for another wild night on the town. There was a street party going on in downtown Hampton, with an awesome band playing in the street. Michael, Kate and Rob were supposed to join us, but we wore them out the previous night and they just couldn't keep up with us any more. LOL! Saturday night was awesome, listening to fantastic music, enjoying a delicious meal at the Taphouse, and ending a perfect evening sitting on the dock at the condo, toasting Wayne, Susan and all the FOJ friends with bottles of water (LOL, being smart now). Then by late Sunday morning, our group had dwindled down again to just me and Mary, so after packing up and cleaning up, we decided to check out Buckroe Beach before heading back home, and boy, what a sweet surprise that was! I used to go there a lot with my family as a child, and it is really a very nice beach! A storm blew in really fast and chased us out of town, but we decided that Buckroe Beach would be the beach of choice next time we find ourselves in beautiful Hampton, VA. Sorry, the only pictures I have were taken on the sailboat, so enjoy!

Glad you GALS had a good time! Sorry I took your Vickie away from such a wonderful weekend but I missed my croisandwich and we needed to "bond" after her getaway to France! Please forgive me! You cheated anyway with having another Art teacher male around! I don't feel THAT bad now!Great pics! Miss you GALS!
Love, Nate A
WoWWWWWW Kathy, those look so cool! What a beautiful boat! I'm glad you had so much fun. I'll have to check Buckroe beach for sure. I've never been there. How's the parking situation? Well have fun at the reunion this week-end! Sorry I can't make it either but I turned into a croisandwich... LOL
Talk to you soon,
~ Vickie ~
Looked like a great time, Gals! Though, I think you cheated also, by inviting a FOJ male into the party.
We discovered about 8 years ago that Buckroe was less than an hour from our house. We could wake up to a leisurely Sunday morning breakfast and still get to Buckroe well before noon. Unfortunately, the two times we went, the stinging nettles were horrendous! Don't know if that's normal for the area, but we did not go again, even though the place looks great and parking was easy. Let me know if you check it out, anyone.
Vickie, we'll miss you at The Blast this weekend. You fit in just like a Springer!!!
No problem, Nathan; we missed Vickie but we're all so happy for you two! Buckroe Beach looked fantastic! Big parking lot and FREE! Mary and I stayed a little while till the storm came, and we didn't see any nettles. None were at Chick's Beach either. It's probably only at certain times. But the parking situation looked good, and there were two residential areas down further that would be more secluded. There were even some small waves there, altho not big enough for Frank. The best part is that it's only about 10 minutes from the condo!
I kind of have to agree that you should change the name of the weekend to something like, guys and girls w/e!!
Looks beautiful. We had a glorious vacation at our place on Hatteras. Adam was there for six days! We had the best time!
Miss you guys! beach season is winding down.
