The Summer is drawing to a close! We thought we might try and get some people together for a paddle and a Picnic on Mobjack Island this Saturday before the crowds roll in on Labor day weekend! Just a leisurely cruise on the bay followed up with some fun on the island and of course... Some food! We thought it would just be a day trip but...? Any one interested?...? Any Ideas??? Here is some nostalgia...

I have plans to take my Mom to Deltaville for lunch and to see a cousin's AquaLodge (houseboat). Maybe we can work something out...
I was thinking the same thing, Carolyn, about the dark hair and the trees. My, how we all have changed! I'm working on a huge project at home of treating my big ole deck and hope to be finished with it by this weekend. Started last weekend and am working on it every night after work. If I finish it by then and before the rain starts, I would like to join you, but we'll see . . . .

Jim & I are dying to have a Mobjack weekend. I suggest that Jim go to the island Saturday while I take my Mom to meet cousin in Deltaville for lunch. He will take kayak and have minimum stuff to camp out Saturday night. I will take Mom home and drive Miata back to New Point Comfort around 5-ish. The small kayak will be cabled in Jim's truck. I can slide that out and be on the island before supper. Who's in?

We plan to join the FOJ crowd but are confused. Are we meeting at the lighthouse, or mobjack bay or what? Maybe we can follow Nathan down because I am clueless! duh!
I believe Nathan is leaving at the crack of dawn Sat morning so not sure you want to get there that early... We are all arriving at different times so we should probably shoot for meeting at the campsite, on the island?

That's what I thought, too, Vickie - just meet on the far end of the island, where we will probably camp. Regina: hook up with Luz or Diego if you want to meet before the island. I think they were thinking of doing that. Call me in New Kent tonight if you need numbers.

FYI: Susan is flying in to RIC tomorrow. Her mother is in the hospital and in need of colon surgery.

I chatted with Susan on Facebook earlier today and she told me about her mom and flying back home. I'll give her a call tomorrow to find out more if I can get a connection where we are.
Apparently, Nate is now leaving at 8AM and Regina and Carroll are meeting them at his house so that's taken care of. I'm guessing they'll be the first group there to set up camp like you said Carolyn, on the far end of the island, the nicest part I think and where all the fishermen like to hang out :)
I'm meeting up with Luz and Waldo at 10AM, intersetion of 14 and 198. I don't know if I can find it but I have a good GPS :) it should be just fine!
When is Jimmy planning on getting down there? Anybody else joining us? Are Lauren and Deb still coming? It'd be cool to see them before they take their big adventure on the road!
Getting ready to put the kayak on top of the car and start getting my stuff together!
